The Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation

Hon. Roderick Galdes has been appointed by Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela to serve as the Minister ​for Social and Affordable Accommodation. 

Hon. Roderick Galdes was first elected to the Maltese Parliament in 2004 at the age of 29, and has been elected uninterruptedly ever since from the sixth district. Prior to this, Galdes was the youngest councillor in the first Qormi Local Council (1994) and then served as the first Labour Mayor of the locality between 2001 and 2004. During this tenure as Qormi Mayor, Galdes undertook vast infrastructural projects throughout the locality which saw the resurfacing of the vast majority of the existing road network. 

Galdes holds a master's degree in Small Islands States from the University of Malta, a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from the same university, and a Diploma in Planning Studies.​

He is married to Joanne née Carabott, and is a father of three: Daniel, Andrew and Nathan.
